"Mother Works"- New Mexico Metal Art utilizing our amazing local resources

Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, my husband and I moved here in 1993 after his completion of architecture school. Upon arriving to Taos, I joined the Taos Artisans Cooperative Gallery where I sold my hand-woven Cherokee baskets, a craft passed on to me by my Cherokee grandmother. I was always hungry for more creative ventures and in a few years began working with silk. Our daughter was born in 1998 and my focus shifted, of course, but I remained active in the gallery and produced work on a limited basis. I knew in my heart that I must keep feeding my soul and letting my art statements also have life. We moved back to Tennessee for awhile to be with family, but the yearning for our New Mexico never dulled and in 2005 we came home. While in Tennessee, I began working with copper and it has now evolved into its own life.
